Approach and modalities

I draw from these modalities in an integrative way depending on your individual needs and goals:

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy: focus on emotional regulation, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance skills.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: focus on making space for difficult emotions and thoughts without letting them control you, and moving toward your values and what truly matters to you.

  • Schema Therapy: focus on identifying patterns and core beliefs stemming from unmet attachment/emotional needs, so that you can build healthier coping strategies and live a more fulfilling present.

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy: focus on empowering you to understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

  • Mindfulness-Based Interventions: focus on being in the here and now.

Initial sessions with a psychologist can feel uncomfortable and vulnerable - this is completely normal, especially if you are new to therapy. I keep this in mind, and it’s something I hold intentional space for. This means that I’m guided by whatever you would like to talk about on the day at whatever pace feels best for you. In saying this, initial psychology sessions inherently come with questions regarding your mental, emotional, and physical health to ensure suitability of care.
